Youth wellbeing in the Latrobe Valley got serious attention on Tuesday 24 February when organisations from across the region gathered at the Latrobe Shire Council offices in Morwell for a collaborative planning day. Partnership Committee members were among those in attendance, joining a broad group of representatives to share ideas and brainstorm solutions for young people in the Valley.
The day wasn’t just talk — participants took part in group activities and structured brainstorming sessions designed to challenge current approaches and imagine better ones. Questions on the table included: How can services work together more effectively? What are young people in the Valley actually missing? And how can the Council play a stronger role in connecting them to what they need?
One exciting idea to come out of the day was a plan to launch a shared website that would list all events and programs running across the region, making it easier for young people to know what’s available and actually show up.
Partnership Committee members described it as “a phenomenal day with lots of networking for the community“. For those working toward the Latrobe Valley Koorie Partnership, the connections made at events like this are invaluable — building the relationships and shared vision needed to create lasting change for young people across the region.
